Greater Central Texas CouncilNavy League of the United StatesDirectors and Officers MeetingJanuary 21, 2009
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at the Red Lobster Restaurant, S. Lamar Street, Austin, TX by President Bruce Byron at 1204 hours. A quorum was present. Minutes: Minutes of the Annual Meeting of 4 December, 2008 were reviewed and amended. Upon motion for approval of the amended minutes, and as seconded by Brian Colfack, they passed unanimously. Treasurer’s Report: George Haley (Acting) reported that the Council will begin 2009 with a balance of $5,466. A review of 2008 data indicates that revenue was down for the year due to decreased program receipts and the expense of one extra dinner meeting for the year. Expenses were higher due to increased administrative costs and increased newsletter costs. After a thorough discussion, it was moved by Randy Patterson and seconded by Lee Hagan to approve the treasurer’s report. A. 2009 Budget: Discussion ensued regarding the requirement for new expenses in the 2009 budget. These increases include: $300 in additional website costs to process the name change from Greater Central Texas Council to Greater Central Austin Council; a pro-rata by membership provisional contribution to the 2009 National Convention to be held in Corpus Christi, TX not to exceed $1,350; an increase in Youth Program Awards from $500 to $800; Council and other awards increased from $500 to $1,000; and increased tax expense fro $250 to $500. Total 2009 expense increases: $2,700. The increased expenses will be targeted to be offset by increased fund raising. Upon motion for approval by Lee Hagen and seconded by Randy Patterson, the 2009 budget was approved. Distinguished Speaker’s program. No new additions per Randy Patterson Agenda for Ferbuary 12: Meeting details were discussed. Some ideas for inclusion in the Anchor Newsletter were discussed, such as a brief profile of new members. It was agreed that due to increased budgetary expenses, the need for new membership will be very important for 2009. Officers Reports: Lee Hagan reported that he is in the process of updating the JNROTC contact list. Brian Colfack reported that the Military Services Coalition will not meet in January in lieu of the Statewide Veteran’s Meeting at the Double Tree Hotel on January 28, 2009. Glenn Looney invited others to attend the meeting in San Antonio next Tuesday. Glenn also announced that the Lonestar Region Convention will be held on May 2nd in Fredricksburg, TX. Adjournment: There being no further business to conduct, upon motion by Bruce Byron and seconded by Max Miller, it was unanimously agreed to adjourn at 1332 hours. Respectfully Submitted: Approved:
